BORP Fitness Center is open to the public!
BORP is excited to announce that the BORP Fitness Center is now open for classes. The BORP Fitness Center offers group exercise classes for people with and without physical disabilities. All instructors are able to modify their class for any ability level.
NOTE Regarding Online Registration System: One of the technologies that we are using for registration and to list classes is an online system called Mindbody. The Mindbody online system is the best software to date in terms of accessibility. Unfortunately this system is not fully accessible via a screen reader. We are in conversation with the company about developing a more accessible online registration system for people with visual impairment and other physical disabilities. We encourage you to contact the company directly in order to provide them with feedback and data about your experience with Mindbody. Fees
Classes are offered for $11 per class. We also offer a 10 class pass for a rate of $100. Seniors 55 or older pay $8 per class or $70 for a 10 class pass. Passes can be used for any class and are valid for 90 days. Please contact the fitness room directly for more details regarding fees.
Registering for Classes
There are several ways to register for classes.
- Use our online registration system (opens in a new window), where you can create a log in, and either register to reserve your spot and then pay for the class when you come, or register and pay online.
- Drop in to class, pay the instructor, and fill out a participant registration form, and have fun.
- Call (510) 849-4663 x1319 and register for a class with a real person. This process is only available to persons who are unable to register online or in person on the day of the class due to a physical disability or visual impairment.
- Have a participant registration form faxed, emailed, or mailed to you. Indicate which class(es) you wish to register for, include a check or a credit card number for payment and then mail or fax the filled out form back to BORP attn: Fitness 3075 Adeline St. Suite 155, Berkeley CA, 94703, or fax to "Fitness" at (510)849-4616.
Classes and Equipment
Some classes will require the use of yoga/exercise mats. BORP does not provide yoga mats so please be sure to bring your own if necessary. Please plan on bringing your own water as BORP does not sell water in class. There is no charge for assistants or attendants to accompany participants to a class. Please always check our website for the most current schedule of classes. If a class is cancelled and a sub is available to teach the class we will list the sub teacher on the class registration page. If the class is cancelled completely there will be a posting on our online scheduler at the Class days and times/online registration page. If you register for the class ahead of time through our online system you will be notified via email if the class is cancelled.
Contacting Instructors
We encourage you to contact the instructors directly if you have any questions regarding the specifics of the class i.e. equipment, ability level, instructor experience, etc. Contact information for instructors is available by clicking on the instructor name on the online registration page. It is also available by going to the Class Calendar link on our website www.borp.org.
BORP Information Line
The BORP Fitness Center Information Line can be reached by dialing (510) 849-4663 x 1389. This line will list all of the classes that have been cancelled for that week. This number does not accept messages so please do not attempt to leave a voicemail at this number. Please be aware that the quickest way to contact an instructor is through their direct contact information found in their bio on either the Class Calendar link on the BORP site, or through the Class Registration link through our online registration system.
