Update (Dec 1): A big THANK YOU to everyone who chipped in on #GivingTuesday to support #GivingWheelsDay!
Tuesday November 29 is #GivingTuesday, a national day of giving. All day BORP will be accepting donations to help purchase and maintain the equipment that is essential to our programs. But #GivingWheelsDay at BORP is about more than equipment. Here is what our participants have to say about BORP:
“BORP has given me an opportunity to connect with kids that are like me. I love my basketball team!”
“I learned to ride a tandem at BORP. I compete now on local, national and international levels thanks to the BORP Cycling Center.”
“Some of the best people I have met in Berkeley have come from BORP. It is a valuable social network for me.”
“BORP programs are one-of-a-kind opportunities for disabled athletes. The various sports and recreation activities allow us to be active members in society and allows us to establish life-long friendships.”
“The community aspect of BORP’s programs are, to me, just as important as the physical benefits of exercise. I have made many friends and am comforted in feeling part of a broader community.”
Chip in to buy wheels and other essential equipment and give a BORP athlete competition, confidence and community:
$25 buys a jersey for one participant
$75 buys a ball for goalball or wheelchair basketball
$200 buys a wheel for BORP’s athletic chairs
