Bollywood Dance Fusion™ Inspired Dance Therapy

Bollywood dance is made up of world music; all that is classical and new, traditional and modern, hip hop and salsa, R&B and trance-which is why it is the right fit for most beings, and can be adapted to anyone’s needs and level of movement. By combining a knowledge and passion for Bollywood dance and music with my clinical training as a psychotherapist, my work as an educator and diversity trainer and my belief in integrative health and wellness, I created Bollywood Dance Fusion™ ; a healing movement modality with one simple idea, that if you move to music that inspires you, and connect with your body in a joyful meaningful way, you will be well on your way to health and healing, wellness and recovery.

Think of this workshop as a Dance adventure- a magical mixture of dance and therapy for both the body and mind. By creating a flow in the body, we create a flow in the mind. You will have the opportunity to experience and play with different movement modalities, and explore your own multidimensional self intrinsically and in groups. There is always an emphasis on safety and self care, and participants are encouraged to share and release stress and to enjoy the movement without inhibition. We dance for health, for release from pain, for support and self acceptance, for stress relief and balance. We dance for joy, for a better mood, to build strength, to breathe deeper and to let go.

About Instructor Kiran Easwarachandran, MSS, ASW

Kiran is a body-mind psychotherapist specializing in women’s health and trauma issues, who has worked in private and agency practice, and served as Adjunct Faculty at ASU School of Social Work, for many years. She created and teaches Bollywood Dance Fusion™, her own trademark body mind centered therapeutic movement practice, through which she has worked with patients recovering from heart disease, substance abuse and physical challenges, as well as with incarcerated youth, nursing staff, professors and administrators to create better healthy movement patterns and to address issues of stress, lack of exercise and the high rates of illness commonly experienced. Her multi layered background as a psychotherapist, an educator and a dance instructor has given her the unique opportunity to simultaneously create change physically, psychologically, intellectually and emotionally by creating a safe space for emotional expression, release and support.
Kiran has been dancing, choreographing and teaching Indian modern fusion dance with adults and children for over 25 years. She also has a background in diversity training and racial justice work and is currently pursuing accreditation as a dance/movement therapist.
