Exploration of Numbers in Art (Descriptive Tour)

Join us for “Numbers Tell a Story: Math in Art”, a virtually descriptive tour hosted by BORP on November 8th starting at 10:30am.

Description of Event: On November 8th, in partnership with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, BORP’s Adventures & Outings Program will host an exploration of artwork with docents Patricia Daniels and Amy Finkel. On this tour we are going to discuss works of art in painting and sculpture from the 17th to 21st centuries that tell a story with math. We’ll find a colonial ship owner who uses math to sail his ships home; a 17th century allegorical woman who builds with geometry, and a Native American leader who uses math to calculate the phases of the moon. We’ll also explore how numerous bits and pieces can represent hope.

The tour takes place on October 11th from 10:30am to 12pm.

If you have any questions, please contact Lori at 510-843-4398 after 10am or email Lori at lori@borp.org. Please let Lori know that you will be attending the event.
