News from Adventures & Outings: Exploration of mothers with their children (Descriptive Tour)

On June 14th, in partnership with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, BORP’s Adventures & Outings Program will host an exploration of mothers with their children artwork with docent Lani Shepp.

Mothers and Children focuses on five works from the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. The subject of mothers and children is as old as Western art and it has never lost its appeal for viewers. How the mothers and their children are portrayed varies widely depending on the reason for a work and the time in which it was produced. We will start in 1490 with a relief wall piece by Andrea della Robbia and end with an 1895 Impressionist painting by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. We will note the great diversity but also the similarities.

The tour takes place on June 14th from 10:30am to 12pm.
