News from Adventures & Outings: Exploration of Art by Black Artists (Descriptive Tour)

On May 10th, in partnership with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, BORP’s Adventures & Outings Program will host an exploration of art by Black Artists with docents Judith Stewart and Anne Burns Johnson.

It is an exploration of the art of some of the Black Artists in the FAMSF collection.  The four pieces selected reflect abstraction and representation.  Two of the four are self-taught and two are academically trained.  Two of the pieces are from the 1940’s and two are more recently created.  The underlying theme is a quote from a Thornton Dial, an artist from Alabama:  “Art is a guide for every person who is looking for something.”

The tour takes place on May 10 from 10:30am to 12pm.
