What Is Adaptive Micromobility?

Standard bikes, scooters, and bikeshare systems do not work for many people with disabilities. This program helps bridge that gap by providing equipment loans that allow folks to test out equipment that has the potential to change the way our community commutes and gets around in their daily life.

Through this pilot program, BORP members can borrow adaptive mobility devices free of charge. Most equipment is available for three weeks, but select equipment will have a two-week limit. Equipment will be picked up from the Ed Roberts Campus at 3075 Adeline Street, right by Ashby BART.

BORP staff will provide free training, install devices when needed, handle maintenance during the loan period, and uninstall devices when they are returned. After the pilot, BORP will also share resources, including grant opportunities, to help participants who are interested in purchasing a device of their own following their loan period.

Everyday Mobility

Get Around Your Neighborhood

Adaptive mobility devices can support local trips, outdoor travel, errands, transit connections, and moving through the community faster and with less fatigue and wear and tear.

Commuting

Explore Car Alternatives

These devices may help with first-mile and last-mile transportation, short trips, BART or bus connections, campus travel, and other routes that might otherwise require a car or paratransit.

Support Included

Select the dates you are interested in using the loan period tool below. BORP will confirm availability, fitting needs, loan length, and next steps before any equipment is checked out.

Browse Available Equipment
