Chair Yoga

ANY body is welcome in this class. We’ll start with a seated meditation, practice simple movements, modify traditional yoga poses for the chair and close with a restorative pose. We’ll work on range of motion and flexibility, articulation of all parts of the body, strengthening muscles, increasing circulation throughout the body and release tension and stress. By combining Reiki, body awareness, breath awareness, simple movements and restoratives your body can connect to a sense of well being.

About Instructor Valerie Jew

Val draws from her 26 years as a public and private school teacher to enliven her practices of health and wellness. In 2010 she traveled to New York to study and become a certified Urban Zen Integrative Therapist under the guidance of Rodney Yee. Val continued her training with Bronwyn Michaelis completing Reiki Level II. Along with Zubin Shroff, director of Piedmont Yoga, she taught two consecutive Urban Zen trainings in Oakland.  In addition she traveled to the UCLA Medical Center to train doctors and nurses in the practice of Urban Zen. Val continues to offer the healing Urban Zen modalities to Oakland and Piedmont public school teachers and children, patients at Alta Bates and people at the Ed Roberts Campus.
