This class is drawn from a vast system of Hatha yoga and spiritual practices that provides tools for inner growth with strong but gentle physical postures. Special emphasis is applied to the breath integrating the awareness of energy. Perfect for Seniors or beginners who want to move in a quiet, safe and purposeful way. We will infuse positive energy as we ease into stretching, balancing, flexibility and strengthening postures that begin to open our lungs, neck, shoulders arms, hips and especially our hearts. The class will end with a brief relaxation meditation bringing our awareness of gratitude to the present moment.
After suffering a serious back injury while skiing 33 years ago where she didn’t walk for one year, Nancy was determined to try everything but surgery. A friend carried her to a yoga class and she incrementally began to heal and re-align her spine—she’s been doing it ever since.
In 1996 Nancy introduced yoga to the SF LightHouse for the Blind & Visually Impaired. She has 15 years of experience teaching visually impaired and blind students of all ages. Says Nancy, “I keep developing my sensory awareness through learning from my students. I work from my own inner-voice, heart, intuition, and experience blending various yoga disciplines from 33 years of practice with some of the best teachers in the world. I care about my students and they tell me they feel the energy. I help them to open their hearts and well-being. Bottom line—yoga evokes discovery of ourselves and helps to quiet the cessation of the mind stuff.”
