Steve Lau

President

My name is Steve Lau and I am the current BORP board president for the past 2 years. I have been involved with BORP since 2003 after my T7 spinal cord injury in August 2002. I have started as a participant, a volunteer assistant wheelchair basketball coach for the varsity team, then a member of the board beginning in 2015. I’ve participated in wheelchair basketball and cucling the most through BORP, and it has expanded my abilities to do other outdoor activities that I have loved as a younger adult prior to my unjustly such as off-road handcycling (mountain biking) and adaptive sit skiing.
Outside of BORP I’m a father of 8 year old twins and work as a Medical Social Worker at Alta Bates Summit Medical center and am part of two spinal cord teams and on the SCI committee. I was previously in the ADA Committee as well. Participating in BORP has changed my life. I returned to school to become the social worker that I am today. I enjoy the direct patient care and education I provide for all of my patients and especially my SCI patients because I can share my life experiences.
