COVID 19 Guidelines

Updated February 7, 2022

While BORP cannot completely eliminate the risks associated with COVID-19, we will follow the guidelines of local health departments and the City of Berkeley and take the necessary steps to minimize risk.

The following BORP COVID-19 guideline updates will remain in place until further notice for all individuals aged 5 years and older. These guidelines apply to ALL BORP activities, regardless of whether they are taking place outdoors or indoors (or both).

  1. Vaccination: Participants, their families, volunteers and staff must be fully vaccinated (and boosted if eligible), or show proof of a negative antigen test within 24 hours prior to the scheduled BORP activity.

“Fully vaccinated” is defined as 14 days after the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine or 14 days after the 2nd shot of the two-dose Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. BORP is also requiring that staff, participants and volunteers have received their booster if it has been more than five months since their 2nd dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or more than two months after the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine.

Be prepared to show your vaccination card and photo ID when you visit a BORP program or event for the first time. (See details on required documentation below.) BORP is not equipped to read QR codes at this time.

  2. Masks: Indoors, participants, their families, volunteers, and staff are required to wear an N95 or comparable mask (KN95, KF94), or be double-masked for all activities.

For outdoor BORP activities, specific masking requirements vary. If in doubt, wear an N95 or comparable mask, or contact the program manager to obtain specific guidelines.

  3. Hygiene: Participants, their families, volunteers, and staff are encouraged to use the provided hand sanitizer, sanitary wipes, and/or to wash their hands before and after participating in their activity.

  4. If you have a fever, don’t feel well, or have any other symptoms, please stay home.

  5. Additional specific guidelines for the Cycling Center are provided below.

Cycling Center

Every rider must make a reservation over the phone (510-848-2930) or via email (cycling@borp.org). A BORP staff member will confirm your reservation. NO DROP-INS!

  • Upon arrival, please don’t enter the courtyard unless directed to do so. BORP staff is working to minimize how many people are in the courtyard of the cycling center at one time as a protection to all.
  • We ask that everyone stay outside the building unless they’re using the bathroom.
  • Riders are encouraged to use provided hand sanitizer, sanitary wipes, and/or to wash their hands before and after their ride.
  • Bikes will be disinfected after each use.
  • The volunteers and staff will direct you when to enter.  Please be patient as we manage the number of people in the courtyard at one time.
  • The gate will be closed to discourage people from walking into the courtyard unannounced.

Proof of Vaccination Documents

To establish proof of vaccination, per City of Berkeley regulations, you must show one of the following with photo ID.

  1. A Vaccination Card issued by the CDC or a foreign governmental jurisdiction which includes the name of the person vaccinated, the type of vaccine provided, and the date(s) the dose or doses were administered;
  2. A photo or copy of a Vaccination Card either as a hardcopy or stored on a phone or electronic device; or
  3. Documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider; or
  4. A personal digital COVID-19 vaccine record issued by the State of California and available by going to https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/ or similar documentation issued by another state, local, or foreign governmental jurisdiction.:
