Program Highlight
Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP) Receives $35,000 Grant from The Hartford for New Adaptive Sports Equipment
BORP has been awarded a $35,000 grant from The Hartford for new adaptive sports equipment. In addition, wheelchair basketball player and World Champion, Matt Scott, will join The Hartford to surprise local youth athlete with custom-fit sports equipment.
The grant will enable BORP, a member of the Move United Network, to expand its programming with the addition of adaptive equipment for kayaking, wheelchair basketball, fitness programming, and archery.
WHEN: Saturday, July 9, 2022
TIME: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for athlete surprise donation and equipment unveiling with sport demo/clinic for athletes to follow.
WHERE: James Kenney Recreation Center, 1720 Eighth Street, Berkeley, CA 04710
WHO: BORP athletes and the Bay Area community members, including staff, instructors, volunteers and supporters, and representatives from Move United and The Hartford will be present for the equipment presentation and unveiling. Athletes will then have a chance to try out the new equipment.
The Hartford is a long-standing national leader in the adaptive sports movement.
