Every wondered about expressing yourself in another way besides speaking? This class is designed for anyone who is curious about deepening their own exploration with nonverbal communication, sign language, and movement. Drawing on jazz, modern, hip hop, and African dance, this class will be an embodied experimental play space to learn more about how to communicate feelings, ideas, stories, and much more all with the body and nonverbal forms of communication, including sign language. Each class will be customized to the students for that night. This is a safe space to have FUN, to PLAY, and to EXPLORE! No dance/movement/sign language experience required.
About Instructor Antoine Hunter
Antoine Hunter is an African American Deaf and Hard of Hearing Choreographer, Dancer, Dance instructor, model, actor and poet. Hunter was born deaf and was raised Oakland, California and began dancing with Dawn James at Skyline High School. He is the Founder/Director of Urban Jazz Dance Company.
Antoine also has performed with Savage Jazz Dance Company, as a dance artist/performer/jazz instructor; he has also performed with Nuba Dance Theater, Sins Invalid, Sonic Dance Theater of Epiphany Productions, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, Alayo Dance Company, Cat Willis, Push Dance Company and Robert Moses’ Kin Dance Company, Sign Dance Collective AKA. Signdance Theatre International, Dance Captain for an Expedia.com commercial, choreographer for Amerikana The Musical, and many other professional dance endeavors
