About Darryl Paxon

For more than three decades I have applied my extensive knowledge and skills to children and adults in both educational and rehabilitation settings. As a teacher the curriculum covered such areas as social skills, general academics, nutrition/health, and physical fitness.  Throughout my teaching years, I also taught physical education classes and coached sports teams. As a physical education teacher and coach, I adhered to and expanded on the physical fitness standards to help my students thrive physically and emotionally. As an in-home support Provider and Occupational/Physical Therapy Aid to adults, my role was to motivate and support the health and physical fitness goals created by physicians or therapists. In all settings, I worked collaboratively with the families of my students, my clients, or colleagues when creating individuals plans for educational or personal fitness goals.  At times this would also require caring out directions from such professionals as Physicians, Occupational/Physical Therapists, Nurses, or Special Education Teachers.
My passion for physical fitness and wellness inspires me to maintain a regular fitness routine. Over the years I have belonged to various fitness clubs such as Golds, 24 Hour Fitness, and the YMCA.  I also pursued other information and skills through my own research related to health, wellness, fitness and strength training through the National Council on Strength and Fitness, and have a certification from the National Association of Sports Medicine. Coincidentally, my professional skills became necessary after my Father developed a serious heart condition almost 3 years ago, and I myself required heart surgery (replacement of a heart valve) 7 years ago.  Fortunately for my father and me, we had great medical care that enabled full recovery and to enjoy our lives to the fullest. As a result of these experiences and my years of teaching and coaching, I developed a real understanding and empathy for individuals who need to regain their health and fitness and also concluded that health and fitness is my true vocation and now my career.
